His body of work includes both film and television with notable box office hits like “Soul Food” and the “Barbershop” movies. Tillman has also directed episodes on several hit television series including “Power,” “Luke Cage,” and “This is Us.”
“The Hate U Give” is based on the best-selling novel of the same name by Angie Thomas. The film stars Amandla Stenberg, Regina Hall, Russell Hornsby, Anthony Mackie, Issa Rae, Common, Algee Smith, and Lamar Johnson.
