The African American Film Critics Association and Latino Entertainment Journalists Association (LEJA) recently partnered to produce the AAFCA Afro-Latino Short Film Competition. Our inaugural competition concluded with a daylong event that included screenings of the selected short films, insightful panels, and a celebration of excellence in filmmaking.The competition also included special guests Marco Mall, founder of Florida Film House and the Urban Film Festival, Emmy-nominated director Omar Acosta, and Afro-Latino superstar Amara La Negra, who were recognized for their contributions to the South Florida film community. Please see the recap below.
